THEN, as if we weren't doing enough, over the first weekend, we took the shinkansen to Kyoto. We stayed in a little townhouse near the Gion district. The place was great -- it allowed us to play some dominos and drink (just a few) Asahis after the boys went down. We got to see quite a bit of Kyoto even with the boys (Philosopher's Path, Ginkakuji, Nijo Castle, Chion-in Temple, Heian-jingu, etc.), and even got to return to Hikone and JCMU where Greg and I first met. That was a very special moment that I was very happy to share with the boys and my parents. (Although Zac was NOT so happy that day! Grandpa calmed him down with some rock throwing in Lake Biwa.) After we got back, the boys were a little sick (and we were pretty wiped at that point), so we took it easy for a few days. Played a lot of cards! Then, we went out to Shinjuku on their last Thursday night and went to the Robot Show and the Golden Gai bar district -- SO fun! We were so sad to see them go after all that fun!

My Parents in Tokyo
My mom and dad came to visit us for two weeks, and we had such a great time! We did a lot and wore them out! Their flights were long, but went well. The first week, we put the boys in school a few extra days and did some heavy sight-seeing around Tokyo. We took the water bus to Asakusa, did the very short walk (right, Mom?) to the Skytree, went out at night in Shibuya, took the shinkansen to Hakone and saw Mt. Fuji, went to the National Museum, went to the Yebisu Beer Museum, went to the Swallows vs. Giants baseball game (So, so many "swallows" jokes!), went to the Ninja Restaurant and karaoke!
